2016 Annual BYUMS Leadership Conference 10-19-2016

This year’s Management Society Conference, held on September 29th and 30th, was a success. We sincerely thank all of those who participated in making the conference happen and for all those who attended.

Chapter leaders who attended were empowered to better define their local purpose and audience as well as plan for growth and success. Logan Wilkes came to our conference from Corporate Alliance to demonstrate “power drills” and “critical question” sessions. Chapter leaders were able to connect with one another, bring their chapter or personal questions to the table, and receive advice from other chapter leaders. This year there were more breakout sessions than ever before with topics that focused around Knowing Your Audiences, Defining Your Purpose, and Creating a Growth Plan.

Those who attended were also given opportunities to grow personally and professionally. Jim Ferrell from the Arbinger Institute introduced ideas and concepts from their new book “The Outward Mindset: Seeing Beyond Ourselves.” Kevin Rollins, retired executive from TPG Capital, Dell, and Bain & Company talked about “The Road to Character” and how in life we need to balance our focus on what goes on our resumes as well as what will be in our eulogy. Professor Marianne M. Jennings brought our motto into play of growing moral and ethical leadership around the world with her topic of “Five Things Leader’s Should Know About Ethics.”

Whether it was for chapter growth and development, our main focus, or personal/professional growth and development, this year’s conference met and exceeded many attendee’s expectations. We hope that all who attended will come back next year and those who couldn’t make it this year will consider attending the 2017 conference.
